Oxford Children’s Hospital
Over the past few years the Foundation has supported the building of the New Oxford Children’s Hospital which opened in January 2007. This includes giving help in funding en-suite facilities. The en-suites are required for the children having surgery on their gut and who need bowel prep prior to surgery. En-suite facilities save the children the embarrassment of frequent hurried trips to a toilet, and ensure that the toilet was always vacant and reduce the risk of incontinence.
SeeSaw
SeeSaw provides grief support for children in Oxfordshire. Over 320 children per year received dedicated support, many more receive support through support, advice, training and resources given to their parents, carers, health professionals and teachers.
The Foundation has help fund the salary of a pre-Bereavement worker, who supports children in Oxfordshire who have a parent or sibling who is terminally ill.
The pre-Bereavement worker focuses on the children and often takes a walk with them in the grounds of the hospice where their mum or dad or brother or sister is being cared for. The pre-Bereavement worker uses her expertise to help children come to terms with their feelings and talk about what is going on at a very difficult time for them.
