King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of London’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals, with a unique profile of strong local services and a focused set of specialist services. The Foundation has already helped fund a new multi-sensory & play facility. In 2009 Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation funded an A5 Welcome Leaflet for pediatric services at King's College Hospital.

The Whittington Hospital
The Foundation has provided sensory equipment for pediatrics in the A & E area at The Whittington Hospital. In the newly refurbished children's area there will be a child-friendly waiting space to calm and distract children that are in need of treatment and provide play activities for siblings, making the job of parents and clinical staff easier. We have also helped equip four children treatment rooms with sensory resources which have been demonstrated to have a calming and diverting effect on children who are nervous of being treated.

Richard House Hospice
The Foundation has provided funding for library resources and refurbishing of their sensory room. We have also funded four months Respite and Palliative Care Nurse sessions. These nurses provide a unique professional, medical, caring, home from home service for each child that comes here from referral to end-of-life care. They, together with the referral agency and parents, assess each child’s medical, therapeutic, nutritional, social and play needs; draw up individual care and play plans; administer medicine, provide symptom control and specialist nursing care (suctioning, care of tracheotomy tubes, gastrostomy/nasogastric feeding); organise trips and manage mealtimes.

Luton & Dunstable Hospital
Luton & Dunstable is the Lead Centre for treating the most premature and sick babies from across the whole of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. The hospital has committed to build a new NICU to ensure that there are sufficient cots for the increasing number of babies that desperately need their neonatal service. The Foundation has funded a new Blood Gas Analyser for the new NICU unit at The Luton & Dunstable Hospital. All new equipment will be used immediately in the NICU extension before moving into the new Unit once completed.
