Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool
The Foundation has helped to fund a child and family information room at the hospital, which will improve the quality of information for parents, families and carers. The centre will have a library, browsing area, research area, interview room and activity room and will be able to offer advice and information on a range of topics such as hospital services, medical conditions, health promotion, research and development, support groups etc. We have also helped to fund a programme of art and music therapy.

Claire House Children's Hospice
The Foundation grant has gone to the salary of a part-time activities co-coordinator at Claire House Children's Hospice. The activities coordinator post is responsible for many areas of Hospice care, including play experience, teenage activities, bereavement and sibling support. For example, the Activities Co-ordinator will take the young people out to places of interest and is trained to deal with relevant teenage issues through their work, e.g. sex, alcohol and smoking. The co-ordinator will also work with families in the assembly of ‘memory boxes’ containing special objects which remind them of the young person that has passed on, affording them comfort in future years. The Activities Co-ordinator will also supports families caring for their sick child at home by providing ideas and materials.
