Royal hospital for Sick Children, Bristol
The Foundation has already helped to fund a new state of the art ECHO scanner that will improve the detection and treatment of children with heart defects, provided funding for a play room in the new medical ward for children suffering from a complex range of medical conditions who need to be constantly monitored and a programme of art and music therapy.
In 2009, the Foundation has funded a Music Therapist who works with around 300 children and runs around 600 sessions. Each session lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.  Music Therapy is seen as such a vital part of a child’s stay at the Children’s Hospital as it can be accessed by all children regardless of their age or ability; it can offer emotional support a wide range of children. Additionally, through the group music therapy sessions, music is a medium through which children can interact with each other when they often remain isolated from each other.
